What is mobile marketing?

In order to appreciate our top 5 best mobile marketing campaigns, you need to understand what those are. A mobile marketing campaign is a multi-channel online marketing technique focused at reaching their target audience on smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. Breaking it down further basically, it is a campaign meant to reach people on their mobile devices. Let’s explore our top 5 best mobile marketing campaigns of the last two years.

Our top 5 best mobile marketing campaigns

#5. Starbucks Mobile Order and Pay

top 5 best mobile marketing campaigns

A recent study found Starbucks had the most regularly used loyalty rewards app out of a list of major restaurant chains (48%). The app does order and paying ahead of time, creating a Spotify playlist, and much more. It has a very user-friendly interface that also uses geolocation to find Starbucks locations, menus, and place orders. It can also recall favorite items.

The app also has “challenges” that allow the user to earn free drinks and food. The layout is simple and easy for users to navigate. The star reward program is super easy as well, the more you spend, the more stars you earn towards the challenges, to earn rewards.

39% of the chain’s sales come from rewards program members. To encourage constant use, stars have an expiration date of a year or six months dependent upon your level. Basic level, your stars last one year. Gold level lasts only 6 months.

#4. Domino’s Points for Pies

One order over 10 dollars equals 10 points. Sixty points equals a free medium two topping pizza. It is similar to Starbucks’ program with their reward system: the more you spend, the more points you earn. Their app also records addresses, payment methods, and saved orders. Once you reach 60 points, simply click REDEEM to add your free medium two topping pizza to your cart. This makes buying pizza after work way easier for everyone. The easy interface is a huge reason why they made the list of top 5 best mobile marketing campaigns.

#3. Sephora’s “Identify As We”

A little something for the value-focused people of the world: Sephora’s Identify As We campaign. The campaign aims to bring gender inclusion to all corners of the world for all people. Then, Sephora also partnered with the Neuroleadership Institute to train their employees and create an environment of inclusion for all people. Creating this environment for employees and customers alike is a huge win for Sephora. This is a favorite campaign of ours on the list of top 5 best mobile marketing campaigns.

#2. Target Banner Engages Audience

Since banner ads are relatively cheap, Target chose to get as much value out of it as possible. Since 60% of mobile banner clicks are accidental, those hanging on to 40% of intentional clicks should follow Target’s lead. Target filled a banner ad on Huffington Post with products that you could purchase with the click of a button. Some of the products were also paired with a five dollar gift card.

#1. Tinder’s April Fools Joke

For April Fools 2019, Tinder jokingly added a new height verification tool. Initially, that alone was a great joke attention-getter. However, the blow back was just as great. Instead of going after Tinder, men got mad at women and demanded a weight verification tool “for equality”. The video even shows a foot having only ten inches, and it was still taken too seriously. “Tinder CMO Jenny Campbell told The Daily Dot it was to celebrate April Fool’s Day and raise awareness that only 14.5% of the United States’ male population is over 6 feet tall”. That hilarious reason is why Tinder takes number one on our top 5 best mobile marketing campaigns. Keep an open mind while swiping, kids.
