On Monday April 13th, 2020, Fullmoon Digital Media officially became partners with Minority Veterans of America. Giving support to our veteran community is important to us, and we are honored for yet another opportunity to do so!
In 2014, Lindsay Church and Katherine Pratt created a Diversity Committee that focused on celebrating minorities in their student veteran community at the University of Washington. Both of them being minority veterans, they understood the need to support others through more than just the committee. They continued their work through their time at university.
November of 2017, Church and Pratt officially founded Minority Veterans of America, a 501(c)3 nonprofit for assisting the four major identities of minority veterans: veterans of color, womxn, LGBTQ, and religious minority veterans. Not only does MVA provide the underrepresented groups of vets a community to lean on, but they also provide programs to them as well. One of their programs focuses on leadership, the other main program focuses on “human-centered case management” for the MVA community.
Why is this important?
Everyone has heard the statistic: 22 veterans a day die by suicide. This includes veterans who may harm themselves because of persecution for their identity, veteran survivors of rape and sexual assault, or for a myriad of things including PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Feeling isolated and being a minority in race, identity, or religion can make it incredibly difficult to seek help and resources.
MVA serves 5 million veterans of color, 2 million womxn vets, 1 million LGBTQ vets, and 1.7 million veterans of a (non)religious minority. Every service member experiences isolation to an extent upon exiting the military. By providing a place for them to get support from others in similar situations to them, Minority Veterans of America can help decrease the depression, addiction, and suicide rates vets deal with.
Supporting nonprofits is our dream
Here at Fullmoon Digital, we have proudly become partners with 3 nonprofit organizations in the last few weeks (you read that right, exciting news is coming soon!). It is our goal to make sure that our partners can reach every set of eyes they can. We are especially honored to assist our nation’s veterans after all they have done for us.
Minority Veterans of America is always accepting new members and support. You can find them at Minority Veterans of America
It is our greatest pleasure to be partnered with two veteran organizations (don’t worry, we will announce the third this week too!).
We stand ready
Just like our veterans stood ready to defend our country, we stand ready to support our communities across the United States. While the coronavirus shutters millions of doors worldwide, we will continue or work to make sure that nonprofits are able to keep delivering the hope and help they can. The best way we can do that is helping them get in front of the eyes of more people.
Things have been tough- so be partners with us and let us handle your digital marketing needs. Let us help your nonprofit gain grants and viewers. You’ll never even have to meet us face to face, even after this is over!
