It was July 2017, your day job was eliminated. You just purchased a new home. You’re Derek Chew, a 30-somthing Californian digital marketer. And you’re about to make one of the biggest decisions of your life to start a new adventure.
It all started when Derek was laid off from a software startup.
“We have decided to part ways with you. Effective immediately.”
It was Friday.
That night, Derek sat in the backyard with his wife. He pitched the idea of a agency to his wife.
They thought about untimely series of events.
They wondered what to name this unplanned “baby.”
It was a full moon.
Thus, “Full Moon Digital” was born on that fateful night.
The next morning, Derek bought the domain name fullmoondigital.com (alas, fullmoon.com was not available). He spent the day building the website, so there was something to show.
Of course, he needed people to show the website to.
Derek said to himself: “There must be brands out there that are willing to work with me.”
With that in mind, Derek opened the door to Full Moon on August 17th, 2017.
The Full Moon headquarters was established.
It was a humble white desk in the living room of the house.
It wasn’t much, but it was home.

Even before knowing what it meant, Derek already tossed out plan B. Yes, it is true that the family care was repossessed. Yes, it is true that credit cards were maxed out. And it is fact that Derek considered going back to work for someone else six months in. But there was no turning back – the boat was burnt. Certain company expected Derek to fail. We just say they were critics without any ambition.

When the 2019 pandemic happened, the economy suffered. Meaning, clients were also facing financial challenges.
Derek had to make a difficult decision.
Agency fees reduced by 30% for 8 months.
This was the right thing to do, what we can to help our clients ride out the storm.
This time, it was personal.
Derek gave his decision a good night’s thought.
He remembered how his clients supported him through the years.

There are good days. There are bad days. And then I have today. I get to reset every day to make today better than yesterday.
